Bob was born in Kenton, Ohio on September 21st,
1936, and was reared on a farm in theBelle
Center area. He graduated from Belle Center High School in 1954,
where he wasValedictorian of his class. He attended The
Ohio State University and received hisbachelors degree
in 1958. He then graduated from The Ohio State University College
ofLaw in 1960. After graduating from law school, Bob
entered the U.S. Army in 1961where he served as a
Captain and Legal Officer in the Judge Advocate General’s Corp.Upon
completion of a three year active duty tour, Bob returned to his
home in the HardinCounty area in 1964 to engage in the
practice of law, and spent the next fifty yearsactively
engaged in that pursuit. During his time of practice, he practiced
law from timeto time with Mark Hanna, with whom he was
associated with for many years. At variousother times
his legal career also associated with Attorneys Michael Bernard,
JamesAnsley, and John Neville. Bob Reed was respected
and held in high regard by his peers,and by the members
of his community. Bob Reed was quiet in demeanor, and had thereputation
of being an intelligent, dignified, honest, and courteous lawyer
and citizen.Bob also served his community in a quiet
and very generous manner. His good deeds tothe
community were always done without fan-fair or undue publicity. He
was a faithfulmember of the Belle Center Presbyterian
Church, and Lawrence Valley Grange. Bob wasa long time
member and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Mary Lou
Johnson-Hardin District Library. Bob was especially
generous in his financial support of theHardin County
Community Foundation, the Hardin County Genealogical Society, theHardin
County Humane Society, and the Mary Lou Johnson Library. Bob is
survived bytwo brothers, John E. Reed and Joseph M.
Reed, and a sister, Jane M. Lay, as well as byhis
mother, Eva. His family can be very proud of Bob for his long and
respected legalcareer, and for the service that he gave
to his country and to his community. Bob wastruly a
good person, and his family, the legal profession, and the
community in which heresided were fortunate to have
known his presence, and he will be greatly missed and
lomn remembered by all. |
